KUANG Guangli
Professor of
Plasma Physics

Biography & Introduction

KUANG Guangli, male, PhD, director and professor of the High Magnetic Field Laboratory of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Kuang was engaged in the research on tokomak plasma, especially on the physics and technology related to plasma heating & current drive by means of microwave. He focuses on physics on high magnetic field facilities now.

KUANG Guangli received his PhD degree from the Institute of Plasma Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences in April 1990. He was then invited to do research on Tokamak's plasma disruption in the Research Center Juelich, Germany, as a visiting scholar for two years. After he returned to China, He has been involved in the development of a megawatt microwave system for plasma current drive, experiments on lower hybrid current drive in Tokamak machines, and simulations on plasma heating and current drive, etc. As project head and coordinator, he carried out several projects from the National Nature Science Foundation and from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2005, He began to do research on high magnetic field. KUANG Guangli is now in charge of a project to develop steady state high field magnets.
