The mini-workshop on Skyrmions was held in Hefei on May 17-19. Fourteen scientists from worldwide gave presentations during the workshop.
Participants shared their recent research progresses and exchanged ideas on the frontier problems of the fundamentals, topological characteristics and design of skyrmion-based devices. The workshop stimulated fruitful new ideas on future directions for magnetic skyrmions. The participants were also impressed by the site visit to the High Magnetic Field Laboratory of CAS (CHMFL), especially the self-designed, world-record-setting resistive magnets and many expressed their enthusiasm for future collaboration.
The speakers were from various institutes worldwide, including the John Hopkins University, Los Alamos National Lab, University of California, Riverside, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, Technische Universit?t M nchen in Germany, University of Tokyo, as well as some domestic universities such as the University of Hong Kong, Nanjing, Zhejiang, Fudan, Lanzhou etc.
More than three dozen researchers and students from Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University and University of Science and Technology of China also attended.
The workshop was co-sponsored by the CHMFL and Collaborative Innovation Center of Advanced Microstructures, Nanjing University.
Dr. Mingliang Tian in the CHMFL and Dr Jiadong Zang in the John Hopkins University initiated this workshop.
