Dr. Andrey Mishchenko from RIKEN visits CHMFL

May 27,2015|By Y.Z. Zhang

Dr. Andrey Mishchenko, a senior research scientist of RIKEN, visited the High Magnetic Field Laboratory of CAS (CHMFL) on May 25-26, 2015.

Dr. Andrey Mishchenko gave a presentation entitled “Polarons: from theoretical concept to technology of electronic devices”. He elaborated several aspects of the polarons, including theoretical concepts, properties, different models and differences in theoretical calculations. He also went into depth to discuss the difficulties and solutions for related topics, as well as the influence factors about the mobility of polarons in the experiments.

The presentation attracted many researchers and graduate students and it stimulated an energetic discussion after the talk.

During the visit, Dr. Mishchenko had a site tour of the CHMFL facilities and had several discussions with researchers especially in the material science division. He shared his wonderful ideas about how to deal with high magnetic field parameters in the theoretic calculation and expressed a keen interest in the theory and experiments of the high magnetic field. Ideas were exchanged and basis for cooperation was set.

Dr. Mishchenko got his Ph.D in 1991 from Kurchatov Institute, Moscow, Russia and started to work in RIKEN since 2008. He had outstanding achievements in the correlated electron system and electronic theory in semiconductors and published more than 80 papers including 4 invited reviews. In the past two years, he got fruitful achievements with several outstanding publications, including Nature Commun. 5:5112(2014); Phys. Rev. Lett.113, 166402(2014); Phys. Rev. Lett.114, 146401(2015); and Phys. Rev. Lett.114, 1086601(2015).
