Invited by Prof. WANG Junfeng of the Life Science Division in High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CHMFL), Prof. Jean-Paul Amoureux, the leading scientist of the Lille NMR center in France, visited CHMFL on Sept. 23-24, 2015.

Prof. WANG and his colleagues introduced some progress achieved in recent years in the Life Science Division and discussed several projects as well as the prospect for cooperation. With great interests, Prof. Amoureux made a laboratory tour after exchanging academic ideas and profound discussions.

During the visit, Prof. Amoureux presented a talk entitled “ New methods for the detection of 14N nuclei in solid state NMR”, which attracted a great number of staff members and graduated students, and questions were raised one after another after the talk.

Prof. Jean-Paul Amoureux received his Ph.D. in 1976 from University of lille, France. He has been the scientific head of the French National Center for SS-NMR in Lille since 2008 and an international scientific expert for the Chinese Government since October, 2013. He has developed several new SS-NMR methods for biology to analyze the structure of proteins or its dynamics. The Lille NMR center, headed by Prof. Amoureux, presently contains 12 spectrometers, all with a new consol (from 100 WB to 900 NB), including 5 for solids. Prof. Amoureux has 240 publications,130 talks in international congresses and serves as an organizer of 11 international work-shops in solid-state NMR.
